The McGCSE

High school students, who currently take a work experience day, are being offered a level B grade GCSE by McDonalds. Teenagers, who accept and complete the two week course, will be awarded up to a B grade GCSE. The course includes flipping burgers, serving customers and cleaning the restaurant area.

The GCSE will be a ATEC level 4 certificate in work skills given by the exam board Edexcel equivalent to a B grade in GCSE.

McDonalds say that the course includes teamwork and communication; skills that help teenagers develop and take on challenges in the growing world. It builds on their knowledge and skills of customer and colleague relationships, interview skills and the correct positive attitude to work.

Critics are saying that this would make British standards fall.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown commented “It is going to be a tough course, but once you have got a qualification in management you can probably go anywhere.”
